my parent's generation

What is or was your relationship with people from your parent's generation?

what it was

when i was a child, it seemed that i gravitated towards older people in my life. of course i played out on the street with all the neighbor kids. i played by myself with my cars and lego and whatever else kept me occupied. but it seemed that i just always wanted to talk to older people. at least as well as i can remember

i've read in the past that this can be a part of having autism. i've never been diagnosed. but for a lot of reasons other than this one, i'm working on getting assessed for autism. it would answer a lot of questions about my life. a big part of my life currently is figuring myself out. so i feel this one in particular is essential

what it is

my relationship with my parent's generation now i would say is indifferent to disgusted. most of the older people in my family who haven't passed away have just given up i feel. or they seem to think this "american dream" is still alive and well. in return i get looked at like a loser or lazy because i have a disability and would rather seek help for it than chase a dead dream. pretty frustrating overall
