modern-inconvenience
something i've been really happy to return to lately is photography. off and on the past few years i've been really wanting to take pictures of birds. for one reason or another, i never bought a camera to do so. one day however, i remembered i had purchased a DSLR in my twenties. i felt that even if the camera was 10 years+ old at this point, it probably still took good enough photos that i could enjoy taking pictures
and then it got even more fun
in the process of waiting for me to find it, my camera's LCD screen no longer functioned. however, all other parts of it work just fine. i felt this to be a freeing feeling. i basically had the convenience of not having to develop film, with a compromise of not seeing the photo immediately after taking it
knowing that the camera took pictures. i ventured outside for a bit to take photos. mainly around my neighborhood and further into the main area of the town. i felt quite happy about this. it was probably one of the few times i've just ... walked. there was no destination, no thing to buy, just walking. when i got home, i was greeted with another fun surprise. i had shot all my photos in black and white mode! at first i was a little disappointed, some of the photos i had taken i felt weren't what i saw them as when seeing them in black and white. but a few of them ended up better in black and white versus how i saw them when taking the photo
i really like the surprises this camera has given me. perhaps to someone this may seem like a camera not functioning correctly. to me i think it fits me perfectly. i know how to get it to shoot in color, by doing a reset of the camera. but for a first time out i really enjoyed the overall experience of photography again
